Tour Update

The list of tour stops is almost complete. However, two or three potential sponsors may be added and one or two of the non-sponsored stops may be removed. That is why I have not yet released the list.

I know that many of you are anxious to see the tour stop list so you can start planning routes. So, I plan to release the “pendinglist on New Year’s Day. If you start planning your routes early, be sure to check back on the web site during the last week of February to see what updates may have been made before the list is finalized.

The rally flags will be mailed to registered participants a week or two before the tour starts (i.e. March 1, 2020). Please be sure that your rally flag number is visible in the pictures you email me to document your tour stops. Below is an example of what your rally flag will look like.

I am happy to report that we will be supporting two great charities as part of the tour.  They are:

Veterans Assistance Dogs of Texas
Lone Star Rider’s mission – Riding for a Cure (diabetes)

These two charities have been added to the tour (at no cost to them) so that awareness of their cause can be spread and to help them raise funds.

You will receive points for taking a picture of your bike and rally flag at the entrance gate of Veterans Assistance Dogs of Texas.  A “meet-and-greet” with Lone Star Rider will be scheduled (somewhere in the Texas hill country).  Taking a picture of your bike and rally flag next to the little trailer that he pulls behind his bike will earn points.

Additional points can be earned for donations you make to these charities during the tour (same rules that apply for the paid sponsor tour stops).  Below are a couple of videos that will provide additional information about the purpose and goals of these charities.

I’ve received some great feedback from y’all. Based upon your feedback, I made the following changes:

  • Corrected a typo on the web page.
  • Added a pdf document on how to document tour stops so folks can print it.
  • Added a link to the Rules for Participation page up front on the registration page so folks can easily access it before starting the registration process.

I have learned that some folks own a lot of motorcycles. The registration process only allows folks to identify one motorcycle. I may change that in the future, as many more folks than I would have thought told me they ride multiple bikes.

One of our great sponsors, KLIM, has provided real nice motorcycle gear for the first few folks that registered for the tour. Below are pics provided by some of the recipients of KLIM gear. Thank you Chris, Neil, and Daniel for sending in pics of gear you received. There will be a chance to win a prize at the tour stop that will be designed as the “meet-and-greet” with Lone Star Rider. Details on the date and location for that event will be provided on a future tour update post.

We have reached 700 page likes on our Facebook page! Word is really spreading. If you haven’t done so already, please go to our Facebook page and give it a like.

Happy Holidays and see y’all on the road.

Please allow more than one bike; I have an FJR and Wing, and no telling what I’m riding on any particular day…

    1. You can definitely ride more than one bike on the tour, as long as none are autocycle (like Slingshots). When registering, the on-line form will ask about the make & model of your bike. Just enter the one you plan to ride the most. Thanks, Dave
